Job Goal:
To maintain accurate accounting records and contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the Business Office, by meticulously managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and providing accurate and timely financial information to support informed decision-making, thereby contributing to the overall financial health and success of Region 4.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
Experience
- Five years of accounting experience
- Two years of governmental accounting experience, preferred
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
- Strong knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
- Understanding of the general ledger, grant accounting, cash management, budget process, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets, and financial reporting processes
- Proficient Excel user (working knowledge of functions, formulas, pivot tables, and macros)
Major Responsibilities:
- Reconcile bank statements, reconcile payroll liability accounts, assist staff and departments with errors/problems, adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain Depreciation Schedules for all funds, prepare additions and deletions schedules, and prepare year-end entries to update General Fixed Assets Group.
- Monitor actual expenditures against budgeted amounts, analyze variances, and prepare/submit grant drawdowns.
- Identify capital assets to record, capitalize assets, track depreciation, and reconcile fixed assets.
- Reconcile ESCWorks with Efinance+ system.
- Assist with calculating administrative fees, prepare journal entries, calculate TRS On-behalf and prepare journal entries, prepare routine monthly journal entries as needed, assist with data entry as needed, and run reports to check for “Out of Balance” and roll period.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records, reconcile investment accounts, prepare journal entries and budget amendments.
- Prepare financial projections and perform financial analysis; prepare accurate and timely financial reports.
- Maintain and verify the accounting of inventory, capital assets, capital leases, Subscription-Based IT Agreements (SBITAs), and coordinate the annual physical count. Review for accuracy on appropriate capitalization thresholds, depreciation, disposals, and construction in progress. Reconcile data for annual audit requirements.
- Prepare and gather financial information to assist external auditors during the annual financial audit and other agency audits.
- Assist with the annual budget process, including preparing budget proposals, reviewing financial and FTE reports, and coordinating with department heads to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
