Job Goal:

Oversee security and safety services that provide for the protection and wellbeing of all people, assets, and property. Provide training, support, oversight, and guidance to Region 4 security team. Assist leadership in the development and implementation of safety and emergency management procedures.

Qualifications:

Education

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Associate’s degree in law enforcement or safety, preferred

Certification/Licensure

  1. Possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  2. Possess and maintain a valid Texas License to Carry
  3. STOP THE BLEED® certification
  4. Standard Response Protocol
  5. Level II — Non-Commissioned Security Guard Certification
  6. Level III — Commissioned Security Guard (Or Armed Security Guard) Certification

Experience

  1. Two years of experience as an armed security guard
  2. One year of supervisory experience
  3. Prior law enforcement or military experience, preferred

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all shifts are adequately staffed.
  2. Serve as the quartermaster.
  3. Ensure all reports are completed by the end of the shift.
  4. Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities and inform violators of policy and procedures.
  5. Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or the presence of unauthorized persons.
  6. Escort or drive a motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection.
  7. Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, and monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
  8. Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
  9. Control traffic by directing drivers.
  10. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  11. Interview witnesses and obtain signatures as needed.
  12. Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
  13. Maintain the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  14. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  15. Provide life-saving measures during a crisis such as CPR, STOP THE BLEED®, AED, and other life-saving techniques.
  16. Lead drills and exercises that promote emergency preparedness.
  17. Help support all Standard Response Protocols incidents and drills.
  18. Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job.
  19. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  20. Develop, present, and facilitate effective safety-related training.

 

Supervision/Personnel Management

Train, coach and supervise the staff assigned to the security team. Assist the Director with employee evaluations.

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:

Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds); may be required to moving or lift 160 pounds 20 feet;  may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.
