Job Goal:

Region 4 is building a transformational Ed-Fi data interoperability solution for Texas K-12 public education and is looking for a proven full-stack developer to maintain, enhance, and develop The Exchange products and applications for the full development life cycle.

 

Qualifications:

Education

Experience:

  1. Four years of related work experience as a full-stack developer
  2. At least three years of experience with writing HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, and being up to date on the latest practices, primarily with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
  3. At least three years of experience in relevant back-end programming languages (C#, Python, .NET, or JavaScript), primarily with .NET and JavaScript
  4. At least three years of experience in SQL
  5. Familiarity with a relevant and globally supported frameworks, both front-end and back-end, primarily Node and React
  6. Experience implementing unit tests
  7. Experience with API development
  8. Experience with GitHub and git, or another version control system
  9. Familiarity with the Ed-Fi model is a plus
  10. Three years of experience with enterprise software solutions

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  2. Knowledge of the Texas K-12 education landscape and a thorough understanding of user experience and possibly even product strategy
  3. Appreciation for clean and well-documented code
  4. Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, and priorities, and meet deadlines with attention to detail
  5. Strategic orientation and solid analytical skills
  6. Ability to document complex business and technical processes
  7. Ability to collaborate with product teams, business partners, data analysts, software engineers, and other stakeholders to enhance and improve product offerings

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software development and solutions.
  2. Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design and in alignment with a human-centered design (HCD) approach.
  3. Write effective APIs.
  4. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software.
  5. Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
  6. Create security and data protection settings.
  7. Write technical documentation for Confluence.
  8. Work with business partners and marketing teams to manage product launches.
  9. Identify ongoing technical product requirements.
  10. Envision and manage a superior user experience.
  11. Provide technical assistance and services as specified by any applicable state grant that funds this position.
