Job Goal:
Provide armed security and provide a safe and secure environment by protecting designated premises, assets, and individuals from potential threats and security breaches.
Qualifications:
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Certification/Licensure
- Possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Possess and maintain a valid Texas License to Carry
- STOP THE BLEED ® certification
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Standard Response Protocol
- Level II — Non-Commissioned Security Guard Certification
- Level III — Commissioned Security Guard (Or Armed Security Guard) Certification
Experience
- Two years of experience as an armed security guard
- Prior law enforcement or military experience, preferred

- Proficient in the use of firearms and other security equipment
- Excellent physical condition with the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods of time
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening

Major Responsibilities:
- Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities and inform violators of policy and procedures.
- Call police or fire departments in case of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Escort or drive a motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection.
- Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property and monitoring surveillance equipment and access points.
- Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
- Control traffic by directing drivers.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
- Interview witnesses and obtain signatures as needed.
- Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
- Maintain the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
- Provide life-saving measures during a crisis such as CPR, STOP THE BLEED ®, AED, and other life-saving techniques.
- Assist in drills and exercises that promote emergency preparedness.
- Help support all Standard Response Protocols incidents and drills.
- Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and
- proficiency related to the job.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist in the delivery of safety-related training.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:
Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds); may be required to move or lift 160 pounds 20 feet; may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.
