Job Goal:

Provide armed security and provide a safe and secure environment by protecting designated premises, assets, and individuals from potential threats and security breaches.


Qualifications:

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required

 

Certification/Licensure

  1. Possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  2. Possess and maintain a valid Texas License to Carry
  3. STOP THE BLEED ® certification
  4. CPR/First Aid certified
  5. Standard Response Protocol
  6. Level II — Non-Commissioned Security Guard Certification
  7. Level III — Commissioned Security Guard (Or Armed Security Guard) Certification

Experience

  1. Two years of experience as an armed security guard
  2. Prior law enforcement or military experience, preferred

  1. Proficient in the use of firearms and other security equipment
  2. Excellent physical condition with the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods of time
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities and inform violators of policy and procedures.
  2. Call police or fire departments in case of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  3. Escort or drive a motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection.
  4. Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property and monitoring surveillance equipment and access points.
  5. Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
  6. Control traffic by directing drivers.
  7. Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  8. Interview witnesses and obtain signatures as needed.
  9. Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
  10. Maintain the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
  11. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  12. Provide life-saving measures during a crisis such as CPR, STOP THE BLEED ®, AED, and other life-saving techniques.
  13. Assist in drills and exercises that promote emergency preparedness.
  14. Help support all Standard Response Protocols incidents and drills.
  15. Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and
  16. proficiency related to the job.
  17. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  18. Assist in the delivery of safety-related training.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:

Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds); may be required to move or lift 160 pounds 20 feet;  may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.
