Job Goal:

Provide professional development and services, provide instructional coaching, develop products, and participate in special project activities in STEM to support the ESC’s core purpose and strategic goals.

 

Qualifications:

Education

Master’s degree in education or related STEM field

 

Certification/Licensure

Texas Teacher Certificate

 

Experience

  1. Three years of experience in leadership positions related to campus-based teams
  2. Five years of teaching experience in STEM or science
  3. Experience developing, providing, facilitating, and presenting professional development to support adult learners
  4. Demonstrated understanding of the Science Texas Education Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
  5. Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction in STEM content areas
  6. Experience integrating instructional technology and computer science to support all learners
  7. Experience in developing, reviewing, and editing STEM resources for alignment with content standards and with support for all learners 
  8. Experience in providing instructional coaching

Special Knowledge and Skills

  1. Broad-based knowledge of science content, pedagogy, assessment, instructional technology, and instructional coaching
  2. Knowledge of current research, best practices in STEM education (i.e., Engineering Design Process), curriculum, and assessment
  3. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  4. Ability to set goals, develop and meet timelines, and work with limited supervision
  5. Experience in the development and design of online courses for adult learners

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a collaborative member of a team and support state-wide STEM education initiatives and the overall function of Region 4 ESC.
  2. Develop, present, and facilitate effective professional development.
  3. Provide instructional coaching to educators ranging from Kindergarten to 12th
  4. Provide support and expertise in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional resources in the area(s) of responsibility.
  5. Assist with planning and implementation of ongoing needs assessment and services for Region 4 customer districts.
  6. Seek and develop community partnerships in STEM to increase regional awareness and opportunities such as a regional STEM Design Challenge.
  7. Provide technical assistance and customized services.
  8. Assist in planning and developing special project activities, e.g., grant proposals, interdepartmental services, demonstration sites, research studies and other customer-based projects.
  9. Participate in developing communication networks between Region 4 and customer district personnel.
  10. Engage in professional development to maintain knowledge and skills in area(s) of responsibility.
  11. Participate in state-level functions related to area(s) of responsibility.
  12. Provide technical assistance and services as specified by any applicable federal grant that funds this position.
