Job Goal:
Provide professional development and services, provide instructional coaching, develop products, and participate in special project activities in STEM to support the ESC’s core purpose and strategic goals.
Qualifications:
Education
Master’s degree in education or related STEM field
Certification/Licensure
Texas Teacher Certificate
Experience
- Three years of experience in leadership positions related to campus-based teams
- Five years of teaching experience in STEM or science
- Experience developing, providing, facilitating, and presenting professional development to support adult learners
- Demonstrated understanding of the Science Texas Education Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
- Demonstrated understanding of research-based instructional strategies and assessment practices that support effective instruction in STEM content areas
- Experience integrating instructional technology and computer science to support all learners
- Experience in developing, reviewing, and editing STEM resources for alignment with content standards and with support for all learners
- Experience in providing instructional coaching
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Broad-based knowledge of science content, pedagogy, assessment, instructional technology, and instructional coaching
- Knowledge of current research, best practices in STEM education (i.e., Engineering Design Process), curriculum, and assessment
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to set goals, develop and meet timelines, and work with limited supervision
- Experience in the development and design of online courses for adult learners
Major Responsibilities:
- Serve as a collaborative member of a team and support state-wide STEM education initiatives and the overall function of Region 4 ESC.
- Develop, present, and facilitate effective professional development.
- Provide instructional coaching to educators ranging from Kindergarten to 12th
- Provide support and expertise in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional resources in the area(s) of responsibility.
- Assist with planning and implementation of ongoing needs assessment and services for Region 4 customer districts.
- Seek and develop community partnerships in STEM to increase regional awareness and opportunities such as a regional STEM Design Challenge.
- Provide technical assistance and customized services.
- Assist in planning and developing special project activities, e.g., grant proposals, interdepartmental services, demonstration sites, research studies and other customer-based projects.
- Participate in developing communication networks between Region 4 and customer district personnel.
- Engage in professional development to maintain knowledge and skills in area(s) of responsibility.
- Participate in state-level functions related to area(s) of responsibility.
- Provide technical assistance and services as specified by any applicable federal grant that funds this position.
